E133 SAR 19D 4-8-2
The 19D was the final development of a branch line design dating from
1928, and was identical to the preceding 19C except for a reversion to
the more common Walschaerts valve gear. 135 were built and delivered before
the Second World War by Krupp, Borsig and Skoda; 50 more came after the
war from Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Ltd, and a final 50 in 1949 from
North British, this last batch distinguished by having a tender with a
cylindrical water tank running on six-wheel bogies. These versatile logos
have seen service all over the South African system and were in use right
up to the end of regular steam working. Kit Features: One-Piece Cast Footplate,
Boiler/Smokebox/Firebox, Etched Cab, Tender Sides, Valvegear, Chassis,
Brass Cast Detailing Parts, ‘Kaydee’ Couplings.
