This section contains secondhand locomotives built from kits rather than being supplied factory built. The quality of the original kits will vary, as will the quality of the build and finish. We will try to give as accurate a description as possible,

One thing to remember is that we cannot supply these locomotives mail order. Unlike the factory built ready-to-run locomotives which are supplied in boxes designed to survive any possible rough handling in the post, these kit built locomotives were originally supplied in a box to hold the kit in kit form, not the completed model. Without excellent packaging, kit built locomotives are likely to take damage in transit. We are not prepared to risk this possibility as we would be responsible for covering the costs involved. Therefore all the locomotives offered for sale in this section of the website are not available mail order. They must be either collected from the shop or we can arrange to deliver them to the next show we are attending given a little advance notice.

We also feel that customers should inspect kit built locomotives to ensure they are happy with the build and finish quality for the price. Some of the locomotives offered in this section are very cheap, do not expect a silk purse for the price of a sow's ear!
