All the pre-grouping railways had their own distinctive style of water column and those of the North Eastern Railway were among the most handsome. The company owned hundreds of columns which came in a variety of shapes and sizes.
As locomotives increased in size, many water columns were modified with taller outlet pipes to accommodate the higher tenders. This is the variant featured in this kit.
This beautifully detailed kit consists mainly of cast whitemetal parts, with brass wire and chain.
