Peco have finally released their long awaited setrack curves and straights in 'O' gauge and thus having joiners pre-attached. Both track pieces have been produced with bull-head nickel silver rail, and will match the existing bull-head rail we use in the Streamline range. Both track sections are supplied in cartons of 8: the Setrack curve has a 22.5 degree angle so 8 pieces make up a half circle of track. The straights are 400mm long (15.5") and the curves 410mm long (16 inches) with a radius of only 1020mm (40.5"). Please be aware, that in our opinion, this is a very tight curve and will not suit larger steam outline locomotives. Virtually all of the Heljan locomotives will run quite happily on these curves, but, if coupled to bogie coaches then buffer locking will be inevitable. One answer is to add an extra link to the couplings. Smaller steam locomotives such as the Ixion range, Tower Brass Pugs etc. will also run quite happily on these tight curves but larger steam locomotives such as the Bachmann 4MT and the Finescale Brass Duchess are not likely to negotiate this tight a radius. Having said this, for anyone running small locos in tight spaces then this track will be extremely useful.
