Following on from their highly successful Hymek Heljan introduced a Class 47 in either blue livery featuring a yellow warning panel and yellow cab windows or the 2 tone green version with small yellow warning panel. Both of the standard Heljan models will be coming un-numbered or lettered and it is down to the customer to apply these details but we are told transfers will be supplied. Tower Models have commissioned a limited edition of only 100 pieces of the Class 47 in two tone green with just the yellow warning panel (not the cab windows) This is the "as built" version and will be available exclusively from Tower Models and at the same price as the standard version. This model though will be fully finished with the insignia and numbering already applied. The Class 47 in standard blue and green are both now available but the limited edition has all sold out.

Two Class 47's came out in October 2008 and form "The Engineers" limited editions. There will be only 150 of each produced. . Now available and selling very well.

Understandably people are now looking into alternate liveries for the Class 47. Though Heljan do not intend doing this themselves we can undertake limited alterations to finish one of their models in any livery. For more extensive details see the Class 47 repaint link from the main Heljan page.

Tower Models received a number of commissions to alter the "as supplied" Class 47 into some of the later types. As can be seen from the photographs the fronts are much modified to depict later panels with extra lights and where necessary the elephants trunk being fitted. The models are then repainted, lettered ad lined into RES, Freightliner, Scot Rail, Intercity, Dutch or similar liveries. It should be noted that no attempt is made to alter radiators or fuel tanks on the Heljan locomotive. These models are designed to be a well finished approximation that captures the appearance of the locomotive rather than an exact scale model. However, at an all up price of £650.00 for a clean finish and £675.00 for a weathered version they are excellent value for money. A few models are available off the shelf but if a particular number or named version appeals to you it can be completed to order. This will involve a delay of upto a couple of months.
